BioEden Guilds

Quick answer

BioEden has five guilds — Euler, Orin, Darwin, Umbra and Xylar. Each levels from 1 to 10 on the Collective screen, unlocking pairs of perks. Umbra is confirmed as the Mystic Guild, with Speed Reading (research +15%) and Added Electrolytes (device water −10%) at level 6. Euler is the safest first pick; there is no confirmed way to switch guild mid-campaign.

Your guild is the first meaningful decision in a BioEden campaign, and unlike almost everything else in the game it is not obviously reversible. The Collective is made up of five guilds with different philosophies, different perks and different assumptions about how you like to play.

GuildFocusBest forSourcing
EulerCheaper, stronger construction; efficiency and balanceFirst campaigns. The most forgiving of grid mistakes.Community-reported
OrinBorder mapping and native resource extractionPlayers who enjoy scouting and reading terrainCommunity-reported
DarwinFlora and fauna study, Bestiary-focusedPlayers here mainly for the animalsCommunity-reported
UmbraMeditative, sanctuary-focused restorationExperienced players who use recycling wellName and perks officially confirmed
XylarTurning dead matter into new lifeExperts working under tight resource constraintsCommunity-reported

What is confirmed and what is not. Official screenshots confirm one guild's full name — Mystic Guild Umbra — and confirm that Collective Request cards are issued by a Mystic Guild, an Exploration Guild and a Technology Guild. They do not confirm which of Euler, Orin, Darwin and Xylar maps to which archetype, so this page does not assign them. The five focus descriptions in the table are community-reported, not transcribed from official material; treat them as orientation rather than as specification. The only guild figures on this page with an official source are Umbra's, below.

How guild progression works

Guilds level up through the Collective screen, and official screenshots show the level track running from 1 to

  1. Each level offers a pair of perks that you unlock by spending progress. The perks are small percentage

modifiers rather than transformative abilities, which is the healthiest possible design for a cozy game: your guild tilts the game, it does not decide it.

Confirmed Umbra perks, transcribed directly from an official screenshot. This is the only guild for which any perk values are publicly documented:

LevelPerkEffect
5Terrain CleanerEffect text not legible in the source screenshot — not published here
5Eco DeviceEffect text not legible in the source screenshot — not published here
6Speed ReadingResearch speed +15%
6Added ElectrolytesReduce device water consumption by 10%

Only the two level-6 values are legible enough to transcribe with confidence, so only those two are stated. The level-5 perk names are readable; their effect text is not, and we would rather leave it blank than describe an effect from its name.

Those two level-6 perks tell you what Umbra is: a guild that makes research faster and climate devices cheaper to run. In a game where humidifiers and air conditioners are your ongoing water bill, a flat 10% reduction across every device compounds hard over a long campaign — but only if you have enough devices for 10% to mean anything. That is exactly why Umbra is a poor first-campaign pick and a strong second-campaign one.

Guilds also hand out Collective Requests

The guilds are not just a perk tree. They issue the missions. Official screenshots show a Collective Request screen offering one mission from each of three guilds, and asking you to pick one:

  • Mystic Guild — "Raise Scroftusk to Shining Status" and "Raise Vinex to Shining Status"
  • Exploration Guild — "Build 4 Orb Factory"
  • Technology Guild — "Stockpile 15000 Dinitrogen"

Each rewards Trust Level. Notice how different those three asks are: one is an animal husbandry project, one is an industrial build-out with a serious pollution cost, and one is a pure stockpiling grind. Choosing between them is a real decision about what your next twenty Sols look like. The Collective Requests guide covers how to pick.

Can you change guild in BioEden?

There is no confirmed in-game way to switch guilds mid-campaign. Treat the choice as a campaign-level commitment and pick accordingly — which is exactly why the best guild page exists.

Short version

If this is your first BioEden campaign, take Euler. Cheaper and stronger construction forgives the grid mistakes every new Keeper makes, and you will make them. Take Darwin if the animals are the reason you bought the game and you would rather have a better Bestiary than a better economy. Leave Umbra and Xylar for a second run, when you know the recycling economy well enough to exploit them.

How this BioEden page was verified

BioEden Wiki & Guide is an independent fan resource, not an official one. The guild names and perk wording on this page were transcribed from an official BioEden Collective screen screenshot. Where BioEden has not published a value, this page says so instead of guessing, because a wrong number in a BioEden guide costs a reader a dome rather than merely being untidy.
