BioEden Can't Exit Dome

Quick answer

To exit a dome in BioEden, use the Back button in the bottom-left corner of the screen, or the standard cancel input — Escape on keyboard, B on Xbox, Circle on DualSense. If nothing happens, close any open sub-panel first and press again; a tutorial step can also gate navigation until you complete the current instruction.

You went inside a dome to place plants and adjust the climate, and now you cannot work out how to get back to the planet. This was reported on the official Steam discussion board as *"Unable to exit Dome"*, and it is a genuine interface discoverability problem rather than a bug.

The short answer

Look for the Back button in the bottom-left corner of the screen. BioEden's interior and menu screens use a consistent back-navigation control in the bottom-left, visible in official screenshots of the Bestiary and the Collective screen as a labelled Back button. On a controller, the standard cancel or B/Circle input performs the same action.

Why it is confusing

Three things combine to make this harder than it should be:

  1. The dome interior is a full-screen context, not a popup. It looks like a game world rather than a menu, so

players instinctively look for a physical exit — a door, an edge of the map — rather than a UI control.

  1. The back control is in the corner most people are not looking at. The action is happening in the centre of

the dome and the build palette is along the bottom centre.

  1. The camera can be rotated and zoomed inside the dome, which reinforces the impression that this is a place

you navigate rather than a view you exit.

If the Back button is not visible

  1. Press the standard cancel input. Escape on keyboard, B on an Xbox pad, Circle on DualSense. This backs out of most BioEden contexts.
  2. Close any open sub-panel first. If you have a build palette, a tooltip or a species panel open, the first cancel press may close that rather than exiting the dome. Press it again.
  3. Zoom the camera out. If you are zoomed deep into the dome interior, zooming out may reveal UI that was scrolled off or obscured.
  4. Check whether a tutorial prompt is blocking you. Early in the game, tutorial steps can gate navigation until the current instruction is completed. Finish what Charles asked for and the exit becomes available.
  5. Rotate the camera. Some UI elements are anchored relative to the view. A rotated camera occasionally makes controls harder to spot.

If you are genuinely stuck

If none of the above works, this becomes a bug report rather than a navigation question. Post on the official Steam board with a screenshot of the full screen — the whole screen, not a crop, since the missing UI element is the point — plus whether you are on keyboard or controller and where in the tutorial you are.

As a last resort, BioEden has Steam Cloud saves and no fail state, so reloading a save loses very little. There is no permadeath and no timer; a reload costs you a few minutes of building at most.

BioEden has two distinct views and it helps to think of them as separate modes:

  • The planet view — the hex grid, your networks, debris sites, the outside world. This is where you

survey, salvage and place infrastructure.

  • The dome interior &mdash the enclosed environment where climate, plants, decoration, the

Incubator and the Carnivore Feeder live.

Build palettes are context-specific. If you are hunting for a building and cannot find it, the most likely explanation is that you are in the wrong view entirely — interior buildings do not appear in the planet-view build menu and vice versa. That single fact resolves a surprising share of "this building does not exist" confusion.

Controls reference

The persistent on-screen prompts in BioEden's world view are Camera zoom, Camera move, Rotate camera and Interact, with the Bestiary adding a Camera Pan prompt. Full controller support and DualSense support are both confirmed on the Steam listing. See controls and keybinds.

Frequently asked questions

How do you exit a dome in BioEden?

Use the Back button in the bottom-left of the screen, or press the standard cancel input on your device. BioEden uses a consistent bottom-left back control across its interior and menu screens.

Why can't I find the exit in a BioEden dome?

The dome interior is a full-screen context rather than a popup, so players look for a physical exit instead of a UI control. There is no door — the back control is the exit.

Why are some buildings missing from my build menu?

Build palettes are context-specific. Interior buildings such as the Incubator and Carnivore Feeder do not appear in the planet-view build menu, and infrastructure does not appear inside a dome. If a building seems to be missing, check which view you are in.

How this BioEden page was verified

BioEden Wiki & Guide is an independent fan resource, not an official one. The the problems documented on this page were reported by real players on the official BioEden Steam discussion board; system behaviour is cross-checked against official screenshots. Where BioEden has not published a value, this page says so instead of guessing, because a wrong number in a BioEden guide costs a reader a dome rather than merely being untidy.
